Iliana A. Matamoros
Iliana A. Matamoros was born in Brooklyn, New York City on August 25, 1959. She was a cancer survivor since 2012. She succumbed to cancer on October 7, 2017. She never let cancer define who she was. Iliana grew up in the Morrisania section of the Bronx. She graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School in 1978; obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies, minor in Sociology in 1982 from Queens College of City University of New York; and obtained a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies in 1999 from Queens College of City University of New York. Iliana began working at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 1982 as a secretary in the Quality Assurance Department. She remained with them through 2017 becoming a Health Information Management System Analyst. Iliana is survived by her parents Cesar A. and Lyliana A. Matamoros (Lynn Haven, FL) and her brother Cesar A. Matamoros II (Lynn Haven, FL). She was happiest spending time with her nephews Neel and Veer Rikhy. They were the apples of her eyes. She enjoyed sharing her love of New York City, to include numerous museums and parks with them. Her love of New York City was limitless. Iliana's other interests included crafts of all kinds. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed going to the library. She was also a foodie at heart.
Reposing Saturday October 14, 2017 from 2-5 and 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Interment Friday October 20, 2017 at Lynn Haven Cemetery, Lynn Haven Florida.
