Michael (Bob) Cremin
Michael (Bob) Cremin passed into eternal life on the evening of Friday May 12th after an extended illness, he was surrounded by his loving children. Mike was born March 1, 1926 to Julia and Andrew Cremin in Meelaguleen, Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry, Ireland where he was raised and his three sisters still live. He worked in Ireland, England and Scotland before emigrating to New York in 1953 where he met and married the love of his life Theresa Halpin in 1956; she passed away much too young in 1997. He worked for Conrail and Merchants Refrigeration where he was a proud union member, negotiator and shop steward. He was a dedicated father to his five children and three grandchildren. He is survived by his children Mary (and her husband Brian Smith), Andrew, Sheila and John, his grandchildren Patrick and Tara Smith, his sisters Mary, Tessie and Katie and countless friends and relatives in the U.S. and Ireland. In eternal life he joins his beloved wife Theresa, his parents, his son Patrick, his grandson Kevin and his four brothers John, Andrew, Paddy and Tadhg.
Mike was an avid reader of history and current events, a proud member of the Kerrymen's Association and a lifelong fan of Kerry Football; juniors and seniors. He was an active parishioner at Saint Margaret of Cortona Church and took solace in his daily prayers. He was a man of good humor who had a gift for a well turned phrase and enjoyed “the craic” at the Riverdale Steak House and Jay's. He will be greatly missed.
Mike will lie in repose on Tuesday and Wednesday May 16th and 17th 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY 10471.
