Mary was born in lower Manhattan on February 9th, 1921, to Margaret and Michael Lyons of County Clare, Ireland. She was one of seven children and was pre-deceased by her sisters Peggy and Helen (Barry), and brothers Jack, Billy, Mickey and Jim. The family was raised in Manhattan, in Holy Name parish where Mary attended elementary school. Upon graduating from Cathedral High School in 1939, Mary began working as a telephone operator for AT&T and remained with the company in various capacities until her retirement 47 years later. Upon her retirement Mary worked for many years as a volunteer for AT&T Pioneers, the world’s largest corporate volunteer organization. Mary was a member of St. Margaret of Cortona parish for the past 57 years. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews, all of whom feel especially blessed to have had her in our lives. We cherish the countless memories of her selflessness, kindness and warmth, and her smile will remain in our hearts forever.
