In loving memory of

Rita Hoey

July 31, 1958 - August 6, 2019

Rita was one of nine children, born in Co. Mayo, Ireland to Nellie and Dominic O’Malley. Rita is survived by her beloved husband Kevin, three children Peter, Alanna, Sean (Shannon) and grandson Owen. She held many titles in life, but none more important to her than Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, Aunt, and Stray Feline Enthusiast.  Always ready with food (and salt) on the table, butter in the fridge, and Fancy Feast in the dish, Rita cherished time spent with her loved ones. There is not a person any of us will encounter again, who loved her family and friends more fiercely than Rita. Distance between herself and her loved ones has never and will never lessen the assuredness we should all feel about how deeply she loves each and everyone of us. What gave Rita the absolute most pleasure was to be surrounded by the people she loved dearest in the world, wearing lily white, and collecting knickknacks. Although her time on Earth was cut far too short, Rita will live on in her beloved family and friends. Whether you’re listening to Midwest Irish radio, eating “fresh rolls”, driving past a pasture with some “lovely”cows, or looking at chicken-themed decor, think of her fondly because she is undoubtedly smiling down on each of us.

My mother sang a song to me in tones so soft and low Just a simple little ditty in her good old Irish way and I'd give the world if I could hear that song of hers today

Reposing Friday August 9th 2019 from 2-5 & 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Saturday at St. Gabriel’s Church Committal private.
