Frederick J. Sote of Dublin, Ireland and the Bronx, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3rd surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Beatrice, Frederick leaves behind his dear daughters Heather (Brian Resnick) and Julianne (Matthew Fox),  his grandchildren Laura, Jack, Brady and Leni, his sister Elizabeth Barrett and nephews James, John, Kevin, John and nieces Deirdre and Keri, and his loving nephews, nieces, and sisters in law from the Monaghan family. He was predeceased by his sister Gabrielle Egan, brother John Sote, brothers in law John Egan, William Barrett, Patrick and James Monaghan and his parents, John and Elizabeth Sote.

Fred was born and raised in the city of Dublin, Ireland but enjoyed spending his summers playing on his family's farm on the old bog road in county Kildare. He followed in his father's footsteps working on the ships in the Merchant Marines as a teenager, eventually making his way to New York where he was welcomed by his Aunt Kathleen and the Walsh family in Highbridge. Fred worked at Best & Co. department store on Fifth Avenue in the shadows of St. Patrick's Cathedral before starting his 18 year career with the New York City Police Department. He was a patrolman on the Upper West Side's 20th Precinct for many years before retiring as a Detective out of the Intelligence Division, where he was part of the security details for the most prominent dignitaries of the 1970s including Presidents.

During a fateful weekend ski trip Eastover, he met the love of his life, Bebe. He loved her from the moment he saw her. He remembered her always saying exactly what he was thinking and knew she was the one immediately. They spent their summers with great friends in Hampton Bays. Together they enjoyed the simple things in life and made the most common activities seem special just by doing them together with so much love for one another. 

 Having retired at a fairly young age, Fred and his daughters were blessed to have endless time together while they were growing up. He would often joke that he was their chauffeur, waiting outside of many school dances and shopping malls for them. He made sure to instill in them a deep pride for their Irish heritage. 

Fred loved to "have the floor" and was quite the storyteller, though he usually told the sames ones over and over again. He was even better at singing a tune and loved to pick up the mic and a harmonica or play the spoons. Fred was an avid golfer and also enjoyed boating and keeping a pristine car.

Fred faced many health challenges the latter part of his life but he never complained or gave up fighting. He was grateful to have met all of his grandchildren and spoil them with dollars for their piggy banks and horsey rides on his knee. They will be singing their Grandad's songs for the rest of their lives.
