Reggie Twomey
Reggie Twomey, of Riverdale, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2020 at the age of 87 surrounded by his loving family. Reggie was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, and was the third of three children born to Louise (Loulou) & Francis Twomey.
Reggie was a man of strength and service. After graduating from Rice High School he joined the United States Navy. In the Navy he was a deep sea diver. After leaving the Navy Reggie became a New York City Police officer. While working as police officer he joined the elite Emergency Service Unit. While serving in the E.S.U. Reggie was committed to saving lives. In this unit he was a hostage negotiator & was on just about every bridge in NYC rescuing people looking to jump. He served for 28 years as a police officer before retiring.
Aside from his time in the Navy and NYPD he spent his time volunteering for many organizations and charities. Reggie was dedicated to taking care of his family, friends, and neighbors, and was known as the mayor of the neighborhood at one time. He was the man everybody came to when they needed something. His easy going nature touched everyone he met. A man of true integrity and wisdom. He was a selfless man who gave so much to so many. Reggie's ability to love, sacrifice, provide, support, and forgive will forever be lessons to all he knew. He was a friend to all and hero to many.
His presence and love will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Rosemary, of over 55 years; his caring daughters Jennifer & Jane; beloved grandchildren Joseph, Ryan, Kaya, and Peli. Reggie was the most loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Carey & many nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Joan also know as Sr. Mary Louise.
A wake will be held on Sunday, December, 6 from 2 - 5 PM at Riverdale on Hudson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December, 7 at 10:30 AM at St Margaret of Cortona Church with burial following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
