Patrick John Dooley
Patrick John Dooley, 81, of Riverdale NY passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Monday, March 9, 2020 in White Plains NY after a long illness.
Pat was born to Anna and Michael Dooley on September 8, 1938 in New York City. Raised on Tyndall Avenue in the Bronx he attended St. Margaret of Cortona Grammar School and Cardinal Hayes High School. He concluded his education with a degree from Iona College.
Pat had a 50 year career in the bar business. He was an accomplished and well-respected bartender at O’Donnell’s Bar in midtown Manhattan and worked extensively at Gaelic Park. Pat and Patty raised their family in Riverdale where Pat lived his whole life. Pat was happiest spending time with his family, hiking in Van Cortland Park or being on a golf course, anywhere.
He was an avid reader and a doting grandfather and his warm smile and gentle way will be missed by all.
Pat is survived by his wife Patty and his five children , Patrick (Mikelyn), Ellen (Chris) , John, Brendan (Donna) and Jeanne (Terrence) and his eighteen grandchildren, Jack, Brendan, Meghan, Owen, Elizabeth, Declan, Aidan, Quinn, Evan, Kieran, Dara, Malachy, Mairead, Donovan, Nieve, Siobhan, Patrick and Callahan. He is also survived by his two sisters, Theresa Needham and Anne Greer and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave. Bronx, NY on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Avenue Bronx, NY on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 9:45 am. Interment will take place following the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Sisters of St. Dominic Blauvelt, located at 496 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY 10913 would be appreciated.
