Augustina Abike Hansen of Accra, Ghana passed away December 26, 2021 at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, New York. She was born February 26, 1946 in Obuasi, Ghana to Saka Amzat and Lydia Hammond. She was sister to five siblings – Eilzabeth Hamsah, Mary Amzat, Oladele Mustapha, Veronica Appiah, and Babatunde Amzat. Augustina was schooled at ECM Anglican at Takoradi. She began her nursing career at Korlebu Training Hospital in Accra, Ghana where she served as a Ward Assistant and midwife. In 1985, she relocated to the United States and was certified as a Registered Nurse. She worked at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital’s Psychiatric Department in New York City for twenty-one years before retiring in 2006 and returning to Accra, Ghana. Augustina was an avid reader, faithful shopper, and fan of crime investigation television. She was a God-fearing Christian and member of The Synagogue Church of All Nations in Accra, Ghana.

She is survived by her loving son, Lesley Addawoo Hansen of Jersey City, NJ; sister, Mary Amzat of Bronx, NY; aunt, Bertha Wellington of Ghana; cousins, Franklin Fearon of Accra, Gertrude Fearon of Accra, Francis Fearon of Accra, Ivy Fearon of Accra, Harriet Fearon of Accra, Diana Fearon of Accra, Perpetual Fearon of Accra; and many more cherished cousins, nephews, nieces, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Eilzabeth Hamsah, Oladele Mustapha, Veronica Appiah, and Babatunde Amzat. 

Services will be held at 2:00pm to 5:00pm, Friday, January 7, 2022 at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home , 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, New York with Pastor Dr. H.V.A Kumah officiating. Interment will follow at 11:00am on Saturday, January 8 at Oakland Cemetery, Yonkers, New York.
