Kathleen Elliot (nee Kelly), longtime Riverdale, NY resident passed away on Saturday, December 17th at the age of 70, after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. Kathy was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, daughter of the late James and Rachel Kelly, both of Ireland. She was predeceased by her brothers Jimmy, Joe, Tommy, Colin and sister Mary. Kathy was a loving aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Kathy was kind, thoughtful and had a great sense of humor. She loved to read, travel and see Broadway shows. Kathy also enjoyed spending her weekends in the Hamptons where she met her husband George of 41 years. Her positive outlook on life will live on in all those who were lucky enough to have known her.

After working at the Bank of New York for more than 15 years, Kathy devoted her time to raising her two daughters, Jacqueline (Patrick) Mangan and Janine. While caring for her family, she also held a variety of jobs including babysitting and working at the Riverdale Y and St. John Neumann Seminary. As the girls grew older, Kathy took a position at a doctor's office which later led to her career with Westmed Medical Group. Kathy loved to work and despite her illness, continued to do so until February 2020. She was a friendly face to so many patients who still ask about her to this day. After leaving the workforce, Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Emma.  

A Wake will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home located at 6110 Riverdale Ave., Bronx, NY Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. on December 21, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 9:45 a.m. on December 22, 2022 at St. Margaret of Cortona Church located at 6000 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY. Committal private. Parking is at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 1/2 block south.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation or Salvation Army.
