Martin Daniel Lynch
“A good man yourself!”
The family of Martin Daniel Lynch, known to all of his friends and family as Danny, is saddened to announce his passing on March 3, 2022 at the age of 88.
Danny was born January 28, 1934, in New York, the son of Irish immigrants, Michael and Kate (Conway) Lynch. He grew up in the Inwood section in upper Manhattan with his older brother Michael and his younger brother Tom.
Danny graduated from Rice High School, class of 1951. Following graduation, he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After his military service Danny joined the New York City Police Department, now serving his beloved New York City. He eventually was promoted to detective. At the time, as he would proudly tell everyone in later years, he was the youngest patrolman to ever receive the promotion. In the winter of 1959, Danny married Ann Marie Feeney of Jackson Heights, Queens. Together they started a family, first their son Tommy Lynch and later, a daughter Regina.
In addition to his parents, Danny was predeceased by his brother, Michael. Surviving in addition to his wife Ann Marie is his brother Tom, his children Tommy and Regina, his son-in-law John, his grandchildren Conor, Kaitlyn, Kristen and Kiera. As well as countless cousins, nephews and nieces.
Danny was a kind man who always had time for his family and friends. If you met him once, you had a friend for life and you would also have a Danny story to tell forever. He was a true character and a testament to the old saying, “they don’t make men like that anymore.” In his later years he adored and doted on his grandchildren. They were the light of his life and no request or want was ever denied them. He loved them with all his heart.
Danny was truly one of a kind, and this world was a much more interesting place while he was here. All of us who were fortunate to know Danny and have him be a part of our lives, are better for it. We will miss him dearly and will hold him in our hearts forever.
Danny, we love you always and will never forget you.
