Gregorio Cabal

Gregorio, 75, of New York, passed away peacefully on April 11th 2022. Gregorio was born in Bahia de Caraques, Ecuador to Flerida Cabal Rodriguez and Hector Arcesio Cabal. He grew up with 8 siblings, Rigoberto, Angelina, Trinida, Bexabeth, Esther Maria, Ruth, Jose and Pedro. As a teen, he loved spending his time with his father on the farm. When he was in his twenties in 1970, he moved to New York City. He worked at various factories before landing a job at a fish market. He continued as a seafood specialist until he retired in 2010.

In 1974, he met Judith Reyes in Brooklyn, New York. They fell in love and got married. They started a family and had Cristina, Maria, Lizbeth and Eloy Xavier. The utmost importance to Gregorio was being a provider. He certainly did not disappoint when it came to his children’s education. In addition to his wife Judith and their children, Gregorio is survived by his daughter Miriam and son Gregory.

Gregorio’s pastime was owning and maintaining a farm with livestock in Ecuador. He loved watching sports especially if it was a Mets game. In his retirement years, he would take his grandchildren to and from school, buy their favorite snacks and take them to the park.

Wake will be held on Wednesday, April 20th 2022 from 4pm-7pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave., Bronx NY. The mass will be held on Thursday, April 21st at 11am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 230 E 90th St, New York, NY 10128. Burial will be held after the mass at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Ave, Bronx, NY 10465.

His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
