Theresa Marie Duffy Mulvey
Theresa Marie Duffy Mulvey, 93, went home to God in the early morning hours of April 30, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York City on September 24, 1928 to Bridget Folan Duffy and James Duffy, Theresa lived a life of faith, love of family, kindness, generosity toward others and an indescribable gentleness.
Theresa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur J. Mulvey, her forever missed son Terence P. Mulvey, grandson Daniel F. Mulvey, and sister Mary Hussey.
Theresa is survived by her children: Monica MacKenzie [Hugh], Mark Mulvey [Janice], James Mulvey [Jennifer], Daniel Mulvey [Maureen], Claire Somers Stratton [Bob], Mary Mulvey-Shook [Kevin] and daughter-in-law Erin Mulvey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hugh Daniel [Tracy], Megan, Colleen, Caoilfhionn, Alicia, Samantha, Michael, Ian, Katie, Michaela, and great-grandchildren, Kameren, Jasmine, Emma, Molly, Colleen and Aileen.
Not only was she a devoted wife and mother, she was also a devoted aunt to many, affectionately known as “Auntie,” “Aunt Treece,” “Aunt Terry,” and “Aunt Duff.” She adored her second family, the Hussey’s, whom we have spent most of our family holiday’s with for the past 50+ years. Her love extended to her many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends.
She loved her Long Island, Kingsbridge (St. John’s), and Knolls neighbors and, for many years, was an active member of the Knolls Social Club. She was loved by all and will be missed.
There was nothing more important to Mom than God and family. She lived a life of quiet dignity and faith. If you ever needed a prayer said for you or a loved one, Mom was the person you would go to first. When it came to her faith, Mom truly “walked the walk” in every facet of her life. She spent her life serving God. For 30+ years, she had the behind-the-scenes role of wrapping presents for the annual Terence Mulvey Toys for Children fundraiser for the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital Child Life Unit.
