Luis Rivera

On Thursday, June 16, 2022, Luis Rivera aka "Larry" passed away. Larry was a beloved son, brother, uncle, father, partner and friend.

He was born in Santo Domingo, DR and immigrated to New York City at the tender age of 6. Larry was raised in Washington Heights, but always maintained close ties to the Dominican Republic. Anyone who knew him understood that Larry was always up to date on the latest Dominican slang and old school "refranes". He ventured back as an adult to work in real estate development and raise his younger children with his partner Naiky. Connecting to family was always important to him. A few years ago, Larry returned to New York City to reestablish himself. He wanted to ensure that his youngest children attend college stateside and continued to strengthen bonds with family here. He loved weekly Friday night dinners with the family at his mother's home and enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews- making inappropriate dad jokes. He was known for his love of family, his generosity and humility.

Larry was a proud graduate of St. Elizabeth's School, Cardinal Hayes High School and Baruch College. He was an ambitious man and had a joy for life and good living. He often looked forward to his next business deal or house flip.

He was also a lifelong Giants fan. A fashionista of sorts, who held onto his favorite staples from the 90's. A foodie, who enjoyed tasty cuisine. And a music lover who loved to dance and never lost his mischievous smile.

Larry is survived by his four children, Tiffani (her husband Brandon), Javier, Kiara and Kyle. His life partner, Naiky, his parents Jose & Milagros Villalona. His siblings, Raysa & Karina Villalona, Steven and Jenny Rivera. His nephews, Mekai, Kalani & Sergio. His nieces, Zoren, Amelie, Isla, Lissette & Allison. His aunts and uncles near and far as well as his beloved cousins in the Northeast and in the Dominican Republic.

Larry is reunited with his father, Luis Rivera and his favorite aunt Luz Nunez. His grandparents who doted on him as a baby, Roselia and Taban. And last but not least, his first grandchild baby Coerbell.

Memorial Gathering Wednesday June 22nd 2022 from 4-7 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx NY. Committal private.
