John Donohue

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that John Donohue passed away on November 12, 2023.

A former resident of Windsor and Madison, Connecticut, John was born in New York City on August 12, 1932, to  Susan (O’Reilly) and Denis Donohue who were immigrants from Ireland. He served as an enlisted man with the U.S Army in the Far East during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from St. John's University  In New York and began his professional writing career as a newspaper reporter and feature writer before moving to the public relations field in the life insurance industry with the Metropolitan Life in New York, New England Life in Boston, the Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association (LIMRA) in Hartford and Farmington, and the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) in Park Ridge, Illinois. Shortly following his retirement from the MDRT (an independent international association of leading financial service sales representatives), in late 1997, he relocated to Madison, Connecticut. Mr. Donohue was a member of the Madison Democratic Town Committee. He served on the Madison Economic Committee  from 2000-2004.

Mr. Donohue is survived by his three daughters: Kathleen A. Donohue of New York, New York; Lauraine M. Donohue and her husband, Gabriel Manfugas of Palisades, New York; Hannah M. Donohue of Madison and New York, New York; and a son, Thomas M. Donohue and his wife, Alisa of Chicago, Illinois; his granddaughter, Susan Donohue of Honolulu, Hawaii; his granddaughter Cathleen Donohue of Los Angeles, California; his granddaughter, Stephanie Arbor of Palisades, New York; and his grandson, Christopher Manfugas of New York, New York. He leaves his niece, Donna Robinson; his nephews, Dennis Clifford and Michael, Edward, and Daniel Robinson; and his special niece, Jeanine Clifford.

He was predeceased by his beloved sister Anna Robinson and her husband Donald Robinson; and, his beloved sister  Mary Sue Clifford and her husband Robert Clifford. He was also predeceased by his nephew, Kenneth Clifford.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Riverdale-On-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, New York. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, New York on Thursday, November 16, at 10:30am. A private burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Department of Veteran Affairs, in Bourne, Massachusetts, and will be at the convenience of the family.
