Rosaura “Rosin” Seda
Rosaura “Rosin” Seda (May 13, 1930 – December 26, 2023)
Rosin manifested love in all she did and to all who came to know her.
Born and raised in the hills of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, Rosin Seda (né Gomez Rivera) grew up in a loving, close-knit, and extended agricultural family environment which included her parents, Primo Gomez and Concepcion Rivera, many brothers and sisters, several aunts and uncles with lots of cousins who lived close by, and other neighbors. Her family was very religious, and she was a devout life-long Catholic with incredibly strong faith in Jesus and his mother Mary.
Rosin came to live and work in New York in the 1950’s, joining other relatives and friends from Cabo Rojo who came before her. In 1959, she was married to Ildefonso (Ilde) Seda who was also from Cabo Rojo. They had met in New York, and settled in the Bronx where they raised three sons, Alberto (a pharmacist), Antonio (a lawyer) and Eduardo (an investment advisor). Rosin and Ilde remained lovingly married till death made them physically part and had four grandchildren: Camille, Eloise, Oliver and Sam.
Rosin had a soul that gave generously to others, and some say she was an angel living on earth. She devoted herself to her marriage, family, raising and educating her children, the church, her extended family, helping friends and neighbors, and helping those less fortunate. She cared deeply about helping others in various ways, such as contributing food to the church’s food pantry.
Rosin loved her family, her two daughters-in-law Liz and Catherine, her grandchildren, her very extended family, people in general, music, singing, food, ice cream, plants, flowers, and feeding others, especially the less fortunate. She was loved by all for her kind, selfless, loving, positive and generous heart and soul, and the excellent Puerto Rican food she made and shared.
Gatherings and services in Rosin’s honor will be held on Friday, December 29 as follows: 8:30 to 10:30AM Gathering/Wake @ Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY. Parking 1/2 block South at St. Margaret of Cortona Church.
