Eloina Marin Aguilar, loving mother and beloved wife, passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2023, at the age of 77. Eloina was born on December 31, 1945 to Ana Teresa Ramos Marin and Ramon Pena in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Eloina is survived by her husband Rodolfo Aguilar, her two adoring daughters Ana Sabrina Marin and Diana Eloina Marin, her sons-in-law Alex Neuhoff and Ramon Baez, and her five beautiful grandchildren, Isabelle Teron, Diego Marin Neuhoff, Lucia Marin Neuhoff, Amelia Marin Baez, and Noah Isaac Baez, all of whom she loved dearly. Eloina is also survived by her loving siblings Jose Ramos Marin, Jose Antonio Ramos Marin and Maria Isolina Dubon and many nieces and nephews in New York and Honduras.

Eloina, known to many as Blanca, was born and raised in San Pedro Sula where she met the love of her life, Rodolfo, who wooed her with his jokes and smile. They married in 1980 and moved to the Bronx, NY in 1986 with their two daughters, Ana and Diana. Eloina worked hard and sacrificed much to give her daughters better opportunities than she had. Eloina instilled in her daughters the value of hard work, education, kindness, generosity, and above else family.

Eloina modeled selfless maternal love - she raised her two daughters and her granddaughter Isabelle with a level of dedication, love, and affection that is hard to match. She loved her husband Rodolfo through thick and thin and he became her primary caregiver when she developed dementia in her late 50s.

Despite her limited means, Eloina was a selfless woman both with her time and money. She constantly visited family members and friends to check in on them and donated to children’s charities until she could no longer work due to dementia. She was a devoted daughter and called her “madre bella” Ana Teresa every day until she passed away in 2021 at the age of 103.

Eloina was a devote Jehovah’s Witness. Prior to developing dementia, she loved to preach and spread Jehovah’s message. Even with dementia, Eloina attended Sunday service and studied the Bible. She took great comfort in her belief in the afterlife and Jesus’ teachings. Until the end Eloina marveled at Jehovah’s creation and never lost her faith despite the many challenges she faced. 

Eloina had a smile that lite up any room. She loved children and was a master at making up silly songs to make her grandchildren laugh. She loved to listen to music, drink pina coladas, make her delicious enchiladas, travel, and spend time with her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved nicknames, puns, and zippy one liners. 

Eloina was gregarious and loved life to the very end. She made sure to remind everyone she met that they were beautiful. Eloina spent the past 10 years attending Riverstone’s Memory Center where the bilingual staff loved and cared for her and for that her family is eternally grateful. Her family and friends will remember her as “siempre bella.” 

A wake will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, located at 6110 Riverdale Ave., Bronx, NY from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, April 14, 2023.

Eloina inculcó a sus hijas el valor del trabajo, la educación, la amabilidad, la generosidad y sobre todo la familia.

Eloina modeló el amor maternal desinteresado: crió a sus dos hijas y a su nieta Isabelle con un nivel de dedicación, amor y afecto difícil de igualar. Ella amaba a su esposo Rodolfo en las buenas y en las malas y él se convirtió en su principal cuidador cuando desarrolló demencia a finales de sus 50 años. A pesar de sus medios limitados, Eloina era una mujer desinteresada tanto con su tiempo como con su dinero. Visitaba constantemente a familiares y amigos para ver cómo estaban y donaba a organizaciones benéficas para niños hasta que ya no pudo trabajar debido a la demencia. Era una hija devota y llamaba a su “ madre bella ” Ana Teresa todos los días hasta que falleció en 2021 a la edad de 103 años.

Eloina era una Testigo de Jehová devota. Antes de desarrollar demencia, le encantaba predicar y difundir el mensaje de Jehová. Incluso con demencia, Eloina asistía al servicio los Domingos y estudiaba la Biblia. Se consoló mucho con su creencia en la vida después de la muerte y las enseñanzas de Jesús. Hasta el final, Eloina se maravilló de la creación de Jehová y nunca perdió la fe a pesar de los muchos desafíos que enfrentó.

Eloina tenía una sonrisa que iluminaba cualquier lugar. Amaba a los niños y era una maestra en inventar canciones tontas para hacer reír a sus nietos. Le encantaba escuchar música, tomar piñas coladas, hacer sus ricas enchiladas, viajar y pasar tiempo con sus hijas y nietos. También le encantaban los apodos, los juegos de palabras y las frases ingeniosas .

Eloina era sociable y amaba la vida hasta el final. Se aseguró de recordarles a todos los que conocía que eran bellos. Eloina pasó los últimos 10 años asistiendo al Centro de la Memoria de Riverstone, donde el personal bilingüe la amaba y la cuidaba y por eso su familia está eternamente agradecida. Su familia y amigos la recordarán como “ siempre bella.”

Se realizará un velorio en Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, ubicada en 6110 Riverdale Ave., Bronx, NY, de 4 a 7 p. m. el viernes 14 de abril de 2023.
