Richard Anthony Day was a husband, brother, uncle and much, much more to many who knew him. Richard was born on June 21, 1946 in New York City into a family of six. He was married to his high school sweetheart for 54 years.

Richard loved nature, and upon retiring became an avid gardener planting seeds and nurturing them into fruits and vegetables he used in his kitchen. Something not expected from a NYC boy! After closing a successful childrenswear manufacturing business, Richard returned to the food industry. He took courses in cooking and became Chef Manager at Fordham University and subsequently an Executive Chef at Mary Mount Convent where he enjoyed creating special meals for 50 nuns.

Richard loved all his nieces and nephews, worrying about them as if they were his own children. Richard will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A wake will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, located at 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY from 2 to 5 pm on Friday, June 2, 2023. Richard’s life will be celebrated Saturday June 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm at The Woolworth Chapel at Woodlawn Cemetery. Interment to follow.
