A wonderful woman, Mary was loved and admired by all. At the age of 17, Mary sailed to America for nine days on the MV Georgic to where her Aunt Nora, Uncle Martin and her sister Nora were waiting for her.  Mary traveled with nothing more than a dream, a strong work ethic, love of Family, God, Ireland and her new country, the United States

Mary was married to the love of her life, Martin in St Elizabeth’s Church on November 26, 1955, by Monsignor David Welch.

Mary was a selfless loving mother whose love for her children was visible in everything she did.

Mary retired from her post of 25 years at NY Presbyterian to raise her newborn Grandson, Kevin. She loved and adored Kevin.  Mary was known as Grammy or Grandma Mary.  Kevin adored his Grammy.  The two shared a unique bond cultivated over her wonderful sense of humor, Celtic music, soda bread and countless cups of tea.  Mary attended Kevin’s graduations at PS 187, Loyola School, Fordham University, and Fordham Law School.  Mary was present when Kevin was sworn in as an Attorney of the New York Bar.  Grammy was proud of all of Kevin’s accomplishments.

Mary was a wonderful cook.  She loved making Sunday dinners for her Family. Sunday was the most special day of the week for her. She looked forward to seeing everyone at the dinner table. Mary had a real love of nature and for birds and shared this with her family.

May God rest and bless our Galway Girl.
