Cynthia Ann Egan

Cynthia Ann Egan, born on July 25, 1935, passed away July 3, 2024, surrounded by her family. Devoted wife to Thomas and mother of six to Debra (John), Mary Beth (David), Gina (Pino), Claudia, Peter, and Tara (Brian). She loved her nine grandchildren: Evan, Ben, Tom, Mollie, John Patrick, Will, Andrew, Fiona, and Kathleen. She also was an adored aunt to many nieces and nephews and loved her cousins, friends, and family with all her heart. She was preceded in death by her brother, Desmond, and her sister, Eileen.

Cynthia was born in the Arthur Avenue neighborhood of the Bronx to Assunta and Arcangelo Bez. She met the love of her life, Thomas, at a Legion of Mary meeting at the St. Martin of Tours parish. Thus began a 67-year marriage of love and laughter.

In her early career, she worked for Good Housekeeping and then for over 25 years at the Riverdale Neighborhood House. They resided in the wonderful community of Netherland Gardens for over 60 years and were members of St. Margaret’s parish. Our mom was such a beautiful soul inside and out, and we will miss her so much. Her positive spirit, her strong faith, thoughtfulness, kindness, selflessness, sense of humor, elegance, and the ability to find the good in everyone will be missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 9, from 4 to 8 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY. Mass of the Christian Burial Service is Wednesday, July 10, at 9:45 am, at St. Margaret of Cortona Church. Burial will take place at the Tappan Reformed Church Cemetery, Tappan, NY.
