Death Notice - Patrick B. Smith passed away peacefully on December 1, 2015. He was 88 years old. Patrick was born in 1927 to Philip and Nellie (Byrne) Smith in the Bronx, New York. He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and served in the United States Army in WWII.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eileen (O'Donovan) at home and his children: Christine Dolan and her husband, Dennis; Patrick F. Smith and his wife, Jeanette; Claire Pell and her husband, Jason; and son-in-law, Peter Grant. Patrick was predeceased by his loving daughter, Geraldine Grant. Patrick is also survived by his sister-in-law, Pauline O'Donovan; brother-in-law, Gerald O'Donovan and his wife, Eileen; sister-in-law, Eileen Smith; and grandchildren, Daniel, Timothy, Jean and Kathleen Dolan; Andrew, Kyle and Michael Grant; Logan Smith; and Matthew Pell; and great-grandson, Benjamin Dolan. Patrick loved spending time with his family. He especially loved the "big band sound" and was a great dancer. He will be missed.
Visitation will be at the Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home at 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, New York on Thursday December 3, 2015 from 4pm-8pm. Funeral Mass will be at Schervier Nursing Care Center at 2975 Independence Avenue Bronx, New York at 10am on Friday, December 4, 2015. Committal will be private.
