Eva J. Pinto, better known as “Tia Eva,” passed away peacefully in Yonkers, New York on Saturday, September 24th 2016. She was 86 years old. Eva Pinto was born in Olmue, Chile, on April 26, 1930. She arrived in New York City in 1963. She moved to Yonkers in the early 80’s where she remained until her death. She retired in the late 1990’s and dedicated her time to care for her sister, Maria Pinto, who suffered from Alzheimer’s and passed away in 2006. In 2009 she made arrangements to be a resident at St. Josephs Nursing Home in Yonkers. In her final years, she often remarked on how lucky she had been in her life in spite of hardships. Tia Eva will be remembered for her courage, generosity, caring and good sense of humor. She is survived by four siblings and a large number of nephews, nieces, and extended family located throughout the U.S., Chile, and Sweden.
The wake will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY, on Friday between 5-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at 7:30pm at the funeral home. Committal private.
