Daniel J. “DOC” O’Connor Riverdale, NY - Daniel J. O’Connor, Jr. age 86 of the Bronx passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 29, 2020 with his daughters by his side. Bronx born, Daniel would proudly serve the US Navy in 1952 during the Korean War as a Radioman2 on various Navy vessels. Dan was Honorably Discharged to the Navy Reserves where he served until 1960. Dan’s career was dedicated to the NYPD and he was a proud member of the NYPD -1013, The NYPD Emerald Society, The American Legion and the Lieutenants Benevolent Assoc. along with every police association he earned the right to be part of. He was an avid Giants/Yankees fan! The Beef & Ale, The Greentree and NYPD events will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and will remember his enormous welcoming smile. Daniel was predeceased by his parents Daniel & Elizabeth O’Connor and by his siblings Kitty O’Brien (Bobby), Frankie O’Connor (Cleo), Ned O’Connor (Jean), Richie O’Connor, Betty Woods (Richard) and Margaret “Tootsie” Carabine. Surviving are his wife Madeliene O’Connor, NV, siblings and spouses Tommy & Terry O’Connor NY, William O’Connor of NY, Charlie O’Connor (Pat) of NJ, Eileen & Bob Cullen NY, Violet Androwski NV, Gay O’Connor NY, B. Carabine and Nancy O’Connor & Steve Pugliese of NY. Daniel was the proud loving father of Maura, Danny and Kelly O’Connor who depended upon him always. Dan was the proud grandfather of Tim & Kevin Doyle, Sean O’Connor, Daniel J. O’Connor,V. and Katie & Jon Lohman. Dan was excited to have his first Great Grandchild, Shane Doyle. He has loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and additional family members that he loved unconditionally.
Funeral services will be held at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home Bronx NY on Tuesday Feb.04, 2020 from 4-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday Feb. 05, 2020 at 10:45 am at St.Margaret of Cortona Church, Riverdale, NY. A Military Service to follow at 2016-C Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newton, PA at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to LBDA.org
