The family of Frank George Riccardella is saddened to announce his passing on January 25, 2022 at the age of 78. Frank passed away from a courageous battle of a 9/11-related cancer stemming from his official deployment with the NYC Transit Authority at Ground Zero assisting with the rescue and recovery operations caused by the terrorist attacks at the former World Trade Center.
Frank George Riccardella passed away on January 25, 2022 at the age of 78. Frank is survived by his wife Barbara, his brother-in-laws James, Richard, Fred, Ann Martucci, and Drema Parsons, many cousins, nieces (6) and nephews (8).
He joins his parents George and Caroline, his brother Pasquale and his nephew Matthew in Heavenly rest. Frank was born and raised in New York City and later resided in Dumont NJ, New Rochelle NY, and Riverdale in the Bronx. He lived his final years in the Bronx.
Frank served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from June 1965-June 1971
Frank worked alongside his father in the family owned Riccardella Moving and Storage Business. After the moving business was sold he ran the family owned furniture and thrift store. He worked for a brief time as a doorman in an apartment building in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Frank’s final employment was working for the New York City Transit Authority in many different roles retiring as a Train Service Supervisor. He was a hard worker with a great work ethic.
Frank was a loving, kind man who would make himself available to anyone in need. He was well liked and loved by everyone he met. You couldn’t spend time with Frank without him making you laugh at some point in the conversation.
Frank loved life and was a loyal friend. His hobbies included going to casinos, watching football games and baseball games on TV and sometimes going to stadiums. Frank also enjoyed watching and betting on the Kentucky Derby, the Belmont Stakes, and the Preakness.
He took great joy in spending time with family and friends especially during the holidays and Super Bowl Sunday.
Reposing Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 2-5 PM at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 9:45 am at Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Ave, Bronx, NY. Interment at Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island NY.
Frank’s family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
