Kenneth Oliver Lloyd 1936-2022 passed away in his home in the Riverdale section of the Bronx on November 12, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Jane, and their children, David and Harriet. A native of north Wales, U.K., he is survived there by his younger brother, Keith, and younger sister, Alma, and their children.
Born in north Wales in 1936, he was the son of a grain miller and small farmer. He studied chemistry at university in Wales and emigrated to the U.S. in 1960 after receiving his Ph.D. He did further training in immunochemistry with Dr. Elvin Kabat at Columbią University medical school and did cancer research at the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research from 1976 until he retired in 2002.
After he retired he volunteered as head of the Landscape Committee of the Briar Oaks Coop in which he lived. He was also an active member of the Briar Oaks Coop Green Committee. He volunteered as a gardener and then a Garden Guide at Wave hill from 2002 to the present. He also volunteered as at tour guide at the New York Botanical Garden.
The family will hold a memorial for him on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral home , 6110 Riverdale Ave., Bronx, NY 10471
