Reverend John Steven Kostek, 80 passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28 2022 after a very brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Hudson, NY on July 10, 1942 he was the son of the late John and Mary (Hull) Kostek.

Fr. John attended St Mary’s Academy and High School graduating in 1960.  He attended         SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake MI.  He was ordained on May 5, 1973 and served for 25 years in the Diocese of Albany. In 1998 he transferred to the Archdiocese of NYC

Serving at parishes in Manhattan and Staten Island. Upon retirement he resided in Clifton Park, NY then Niskayuna, NY eventually moving to the St. John Vianney Clergy Residence for retired priests.

Fr. John is survived by his brother Edward Kostek, sister-in-law Daria Kostek of Schenectady, niece Jessica (Marc) Gravelin, a great-nephew Luke Tyler Gravelin and a great niece Ella Skye Gravelin of Glenville NY.

There will be no calling hours but there will be a concelebrated Mass of Burial at Immaculate Conception Church 400 Saratoga Rd (RT 50) at 1PM Tuesday August 2, 2022.  Burial will be in the family plot at Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson at 3:30 pm.  The mass will be livestreamed for those unable to attend on the www.facebook.com/ICGlenville/videos.

In lieu of flowers donations will be accepted to the St. John Vianney Clergy Residence for retired priests of the Archdiocese of NYC.  Envelopes will be provided.
