Eric Linder

January 15, 2024 Jeffrey Wiecek

Eric Linder passed away peacefully at Calvary Hospital in the early morning of January 15, 2024 at the age of 82 with his loving wife by his side.  He was a beloved husband, father, step-father, papa, brother, uncle and brother-in-law.

He was born in Manhattan to Martin and Blossom Linder and grew up in East Meadow, Long Island.  He worked well into his late 70’s for the Cavaliers Sports Club in New York City as a coach for kids ages 5 to 12.  He really loved kids, loved to do arts and crafts with them, games, tricks, he was the ultimate trickster but most importantly he taught them good sportsmanship.

He served Honorably in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1966.  He was an avid WWII buff and knew the names and details of all battles fought.

He attended Parsons School of Design in New York City and was a gifted sculptor and artist.  He was an exquisite cartoonist spending hours a day drawing.  You would have to be careful what story you related to him because it could turn up in a cartoon.

He loved dogs especially his son’s miniature bull terriers, Jinx and Rosie and his sister-in-law’s labrador retriever, Teddy and beagle, Dolly.  In his younger years he raised and showed bull terriers and won many awards.

He was also a car nut and loved his Corvette, winning many “best in shows”.  You would often find him polishing his cars and warning his wife not to drive in puddles.

He was the nicest guy you could ever meet and that bright light has gone out for us all.  There will never be another sweet Eric, he was one of a kind.

He is survived by his wife Marie, son Damon, daughter-in-law Lori, step-sons Greg and Daniel, daughter-in-law Annmarie, grandchildren Maggie, Kate, Sofi, Charlotte and Conor, brother Stephen, sister-in-law Cindy, sister Lisa, nephews Robert and Matthew, sister-in-law Jackie and her husband Andy and their children, Tommy and his wife Abbie and their son James, Samantha and Frankie.

Reposing Friday January 19th from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY 10471. Burial immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
