Eileen (O'Donnell) Schrepel of Riverdale
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen; she left us too soon on September 29, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with MS.
Eileen fought this battle to the end with all her strength and dignity and will be remembered for never complaining and handling each day's struggles and challenges as they came. The hardest part for Eileen to accept was losing her mobility and independence, but she never let that stop her fight.
Eileen was born in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx to the late Mary (Dowling) and Patrick O'Donnell on July 11, 1959. Eileen enjoyed a 30-plus years career in the insurance industry while raising her two sons. Eileen would say that being their mom was her greatest accomplishment in life. She never missed a soccer or Little League game and was always there cheering them on.
Eileen is survived by her husband, James, and her devoted sons, Mathew and James. Also surviving are her sisters Ann (Mark), Mary and Maggie, her brother Billy, and niece Lauren.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Methodist Home for the dedicated and compassionate care Eileen received over the past year.
Memorial wake will be held on Saturday, October 19th, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, New York 10471. Disposition will be private.
In memoriam, donations in Eileen's name may be made to the Methodist Home of Riverdale.
Remember me in your heart; your thoughts and your memories of the times we loved, the times we cried, the times we fought, the times we laughed. For if you always think of me, I will never be gone.
