Margaret "Peg" Foran (nee O'Shea), passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 13, 2024, at the age of 91 with family by her side. Peg is survived by a multitude of people who deeply love her: her five children and their spouses - James (Ann), Pat (Anne), Michael (Joanie), Anne Marie (Alan), and John (Nicki). Her nine grandchildren - Kelly (Sean), PJ (Nicole), James, Will, Claire (Nick), Ruairi, Alanna, Connor and Eric. Her four great-grandchildren - Kevin, James, Giuliana and Henry. Her three sisters - Nancy, B, and Joanna (Babs). Her sister-in-law Kathleen O’Shea and brother-in-law George Spellissy, as well as nieces and nephews, too many to count. Peg was predeceased by her husband, Jimmy and grandson Raymond James; her siblings - Sean, May, Padraig (Frances), and Thomas and in-laws: Liam Shanahan, Jack Lynch and Marty Butler, Dennie (Catherine), Micho (Bridget), Mary (Paddy) as well as Peg’s parents Patrick and Anne.
Peg was born the fourth child of eight to her parents, Patrick and Anne O'Shea in Kilcrona, Kilkee County Clare Ireland. Peg learned early that she enjoyed travel, seeing new places and creating and strengthening relationships. She had the trip of a lifetime when she traveled by ship from Ireland to NY Harbor in 1954 to start a new life with her future husband, Jimmy Foran. Travel was limited to day trips up to Lake Welch and out to Rockaway until her children were grown. Peg and Jimmy made several trips back to Ireland, after Jimmy retired. Peg loved to go out with her husband Jimmy to local Irish dances as well as the Doonbeg Club, where they socialized and danced the night away. That love of dance continued in later years with Irish set dancing throughout the NY Metro area.
After the loss of Jimmy in 1987, Peg traveled to spend time with her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. In time, she joined the Horizon's at Visitation parish where she made many new friends and embarked on more travel. Some of those outstanding trips included travel to Ireland, Scotland and Wales, as well as travel within the US to New Orleans, Mackinac Island, Branson and many other places. Peg had a love of the church and lived a long and fruitful life.
Peg's love of family was her family's greatest gift. She will be dearly missed by her entire family and all of her friends. May she rest in peace.
