Patricia “Patsy” Carmody of the Bronx New York passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024. She was born on December 1, 1945 to the late John and Margaret McVey. She grew up in the Bronx alongside her late sisters, Josephine and Eileen, her brother John, and sisters, Kathleen and Barbara.
Patsy was a very active member of the Saint Margaret’s community where she raised her children. She was a devoted Catholic, and very proud of her Irish heritage.
Patsy also loved not only her kids, but all the kids in the neighborhood. You would always find her at Saint Margaret’s basketball gym or at one of the baseball fields if her children had games. She was always there, always helping and always smiling. She made lifelong friends right in the community. Everyone knew her around the neighborhood.
Patsy also had a love for “her “ Yankees. It was quite fitting that she passed on the day of the Yankee Home Opener.
After working 26 years at Columbia University she finally retired in 2016.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard “Sonny” Carmody, her children Richard (Theresa) and Danielle as well as her grandchildren Richard V, Michael, Samantha and Keira. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Wake services will be held on Thursday, April 11 from 3 to 7 PM. Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 12 at St. Margaret of Cortona Church at 9:45 AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Patsy’s family kindly asked that you remember to donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America
