It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Grace Ann Devaney, formerly known as Grace Ann Hughes, who left us peacefully on March 28th, 2025, at the age of 66.
Grace was born on November 30, 1958, in the Bronx, NY, and grew up on the Grand Concourse, where she cultivated a deep love for the city she called home. She attended Aquinas High School and later earned her degree from Drake Business School, setting the foundation for her successful career as an accountant in New York City. Grace's dedication to her work and her sharp mind earned her the respect and admiration of all who knew her.
Above all, Grace cherished her family. She was the beloved mother of two sons, Michael Gabriele and Joseph Dean. Grace is survived by her sons, Michael and his husband Ryan Gabriele, and their children, Alec and Riley Gabriele, as well as Joseph and his wife Samantha Dean, and their children, Jordan and Madelyn Dean. Grace took great pride in being a loving mother and grandmother, always putting her family first, and her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren.
Grace was a kind, warm-hearted person whose spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on through her family and all who were touched by her gentle and loving nature.
She now joins her loving late husband, John Devaney, her mother, Margaretta Hughes, and her two sisters, Suzanne D'Angelo and Maureen Rouantree, in heaven.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the wake, which will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025, from 3 PM to 7 PM at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home. A private committal will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
Rest in peace, Grace. Your legacy of love and kindness will never be forgotten.
