Marjory Catherine Farley passed away on April 24, 2017. A lifelong resident of Riverdale, Marjory was born on December 2, 1926 to Anna Conboy Farley and Frank Michael Farley. Marjory graduated high school from the Academy of Mount St. Vincent and earned a Bachelors degree from The College of Mount St. Vincent and obtained two Masters degrees from Fordham University. She had a long and fulfilling career as a grade school teacher in the New York City Public School system and in retirement was a dedicated Religious Education Catechist at St. Margaret’s Church for many years. Marjory was a talented pianist, a longtime member of the Metropolitan Opera and a generous volunteer. Marjory was the beloved sister of Frances Farley (William) Whelan of New Rochelle, aunt to William James (Susan) Whelan, III of Rye and Thomas Farley (Megan) Whelan of Scarsdale, grand aunt to Mary Whelan (Christopher) Lovely of Sugar Land, Texas, Patrick Marren (Diana) Whelan of New York, David Farley Whelan of New York, Helen Catherine Whelan of Rye, Kelly Susan Whelan of New York, Thomas Farley Whelan, Jr. of San Francisco, Caroline Emily Whelan of New York, Robert Phillips Whelan of Scarsdale and Michael Francis Whelan of Scarsdale, and great grand aunt to Claire Ellen Lovely and Emily Catherine Lovely of Sugar Land. Marjory led an exemplary Christian life and will be greatly missed by her whole family and by all her knew her. Marjory will be waked on Friday from 4-7 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:45 amat St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY.Interment Holy Mount Cemetery in Eastchester NY.
