Camille Eileen Ferrara (nee Bianchini) passed away peacefully on December 27, 2019. Born November 13, 1944, to Raphael and Eileen Bianchini, she is survived by her daughter’s Carol A. Ferrara (Frank Scarpa) and Christine Marie, her grandchildren Sienna and Frank, her brother Raphael Bianchini (Susan), and nieces and many other relatives.
Camille grew up on 151st Street and Morris Avenue in the South Bronx, and attended Our Lady of Pity School and Church, where she was a devoted parishioner and member of the choir. Camille’s first job was working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She left the job to raise her two daughters. As time went on, Camille went back to school to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree at the College of Mount St Vincent, where she earned a business and psychology degree. She worked in the insurance business for some time, but then went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Psychology from Manhattan College. Dedicating her career to social work, Camille worked with substance abuse patients at Montefiore Hospital. She was fully engaged in her children’s lives whether it be coaching softball for the North Riverdale Baseball League or taking them to swim practices and swim competitions. In addition, Camille was also heavily committed to her daughters’ education at St. Margaret’s of Cortona School.
Camille’s favorite pastime was spending time with friends of 70 years at annual reunions reminiscing about the good old days. She also treasured the time spent with new friends she recently met at the senior center in Riverdale. But the most special times that filled her heart with joy were spent with her loving grandchildren Sienna and Frank. Her legacy? Being a dear friend all the time.
Reposing Thursday, January 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave, at West 261st Street. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, January 3rd 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church. Interment will follow at Saint Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx NY.
