Isabel M. Ciotti, 92 passed away on January 6, 2022 at her home in Yonkers.
Isabel was born to Alice (Pellegrini) Ciotti and John Ciotti, in Pittsburgh, PA on September 19, 1929. She graduated from St. Benedict High School in Pittsburgh, PA in 1947. Following graduation she moved to the Bronx, NY, where she lived with her Aunt Bella for almost 40 years. She became an established New Yorker but never forgot her Pennsylvania roots.
Isabel began her career in the accounting department at Pandick Press, NY and advanced to become an Estimator. She remained in that role at Pandick for most of her working career. She achieved outstanding success in the printing business, a field that had been previously dominated by men.
Isabel was a loving daughter, sister, cousin, “aunt”, and friend. She is survived by her brother, Robert Ciotti, of Pittsburgh, PA; her cousin, Louise Mundy, of Mahopac, NY, and numerous “nieces” and “nephews”.
Isabel was a woman who always made herself available to help others. Throughout her entire working career she volunteered one night a week at the New York Foundling where she supported, advocated for, and helped children and families in need. She sang in St. John’s Church choir in Kingsbridge, NY for 36 years. When she moved to Yonkers she began singing in St. Margaret’s choir in Riverdale where she remained an active member until her death. She served for many years as Treasurer on her co-op Board of Directors. Because of her incomparable efforts and abilities as a Director and Treasurer, she was well respected by all those involved in the co-op.
Isabel was a very talented artist who selflessly shared her artisanal skills as seamstress, artist, and ceramicist with all of us whom she loved. Her creativity leaves many of us not only with the skills she imparted, but also with the beautiful treasures that she crafted.
A dear friend of Isabel’s recently reminded us that among the many good things we remember about Isabel we most fondly remember that she loved and was good company, she heartily enjoyed good food and she truly appreciated a good scotch.
Isabel will be greatly missed by all of us who loved her.
