Eleanor Ann Hussey, age 87, of Riverdale, New York, passed away in her sleep on Monday, August 22nd, 2022. She is predeceased by her mother, Mary Jane, father, Patrick, and brother, Robert, and leaves behind her two daughters, Mary and Kathleen, grandchildren, Connor and Alexander, and sister, Rita Mary.
Eleanor was born in Queens, New York. She was a devout Catholic, and a long-time parishioner at St. Margaret of Cortona Church in Riverdale. For most of her adult life, she served as Assistant to the Director of Nursing at the Methodist Church Home for the Aged, where she resided since April. Deeply proud of her Irish heritage, she participated annually in St. Patrick’s Day parades and celebrations and filled her home with Irish-themed decorations and keepsakes. A resident of Skyview-on-the-Hudson in Riverdale for 49 years, she was a patient and loving friend to everyone. During the summer months, Eleanor could be found at the poolside in her cabana along with Sharon, Tony, and dear friend, Cheryl. Over the years, she has taken great joy in watching her two grandchildren perform in Riverdale Children’s Theatre productions.
A wake will be held on Thursday, August 25th from 2-5 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, Inc., 6110 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx NY. The Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, August 26th at 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 6000 Riverdale Avenue, Bronx, NY. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life. Burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Smithtown, NY.
