Carolyn Klingbeil, much loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to Sue and Gladys, passed away December 16th, 2024, at the age of 95 – not unexpectedly – but nonetheless taking her family by surprise.
Carolyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold. She is survived by her daughters Heidi, Beth, Jane and Gretchen, and her sons-in-law Ben, Jack, Wayne and Tom. She leaves behind ten grandchildren - Nick, Adam, Mathias, Brian, Bridget, David, Rachel, Ben, Isaiah and Naomi; and Granddaughters-in law Sara and Michelle, and Great-grandson Caleb.
Much of her professional life was spent as an Elementary School Reading Specialist teacher in the NYC Public School System, a role through which she touched countless children’s lives.
Carolyn and Harold raised their children in a 2-bedroom prewar apartment on Manhattan's upper west side, tenanted by a cosmopolitan array of neighbors, and across the street from Joan of Arc Park.
Carolyn and Harold’s legacy of a love of learning, problem solving, animals and nature has been passed on to their children, grandchildren and great-grandson.
She will be missed.
