Ildefonso "Ilde" Seda (May 02, 1933 – December 18, 2024)
Rosaura “Rosin” Seda (May 13, 1930 – December 26, 2023)
Ilde peacefully left this world to reunite with his beloved wife Rosin for Christmas. She was the love of his life and he has missed her dearly this past year. They were married in 1959.
Ilde had a loving, caring, and giving soul who helped anyone in need. He was loved as a brother by many. He was a dedicated, hardworking family man of strong Catholic faith and values. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, as was his father, and served his country in the mid-1950s.
Born and raised in rural Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, Ilde and his older sister had a tough start. They lost their mother when he was about eight years old from illness and her family mainly raised them while their father worked. By the time he was fifteen years old, Ilde and his sister were almost on their own in the Bronx and he worked as a dishwasher while attending high-school; their father had gone back to Puerto Rico and several maternal aunts and uncles looked after them.
Ilde met Rosin, who was also from Cabo Rojo, in New York and they married and settled in the Bronx. He worked as a bookkeeper for a finance company and she worked raising three sons with him, Alberto (a pharmacist), Antonio (a lawyer) and Eduardo (a Wall Street analyst). They loved their daughters-in-law, Liz and Catherine, and their grandchildren, Camille, Eloise, Oliver and Sam.
Ilde and Rosin were a team who were devoted to each other, family, raising and educating their children, the church, extended family, helping friends and neighbors, and helping those less fortunate. Ilde made annual donations to organizations and charities that helped kids on reservations, kids from underprivileged backgrounds, kids who needed surgeries so that they could have a normal face and smile, kids who didn't have food to eat, Veterans, and others that helped the poor or worked to find cures and support people with debilitating terminal illnesses.
Ilde especially loved Christmas - he'd send dozens of holiday cards and loved shopping for gifts, especially for kids. He also had great holiday recipes, made a delicious coquito, and loved making holiday meals with Rosin for friends and family.
